The BLISTT Airshed Governing Board convened its members on November 17, 2022 at Fortune Restaurant, Otek Street, Baguio City. Engr. William Alexander Go of the EMB-CAR presented the air quality monitoring data from January to October and revealed that the air quality is still good to fair. In spite of the increasing number of vehicles plying the City of Baguio and municipality of La Trinidad, the Ambient Air Quality Monitoring results for PM 10 are still within the guidelines.
Meanwhile, on clean air initiatives, LGU La Trinidad MENRO Arthur Pedro reported that the Final Draft of the Clean Air Action Plan of the LGU in coordination with the Clean Air Asia is now in place. It will be presented for approval on November 20-23, 2022 in Manila.
For LGU Tuba, Mr. Norman Ramirez informed the Governing Board members that their Anti-Smoke Belching Ordinance is already on its second reading. Thirteen (13) barangays are now being assessed and validated by the LGU for the “Search for Cleanest and Greenest Barangay.”
For LGU Itogon, Engr. Benigno Apidos reported that the LGU adopted the program of the provincial government on “Clean and Green Beautification Contest” in relation to the implementation of the Philippine Ecological Solid Waste Management Act and the Philippine Clean Air Act. Now on its second year, every barangay is validated in terms of waste management such as segregation at source, operation of Materials Recovery Facility and buffer zones along the highway.
Assistant Regional Director Jennilyn Avelino of the DOTr-CAR recognized the efforts of the members for their active participation and their initiatives in the BLISTT Airshed for CY 2022. The BLISTT Airshed Governing Board convenes every quarter to discuss relevant issues and initiate policies concerning air quality management.
