Environmental Management Bureau Central Office is conducted a face-to-face mid-year assessment of solid waste management programs implementation for CY 2022 at Newtown Hotel, Baguio City. This is attended by EMB focal persons and representatives of the solid waste management section of all EMB Regional Offices.
Ma. Victoria V. Abrera, EMB-CAR Regional Director, in her opening remarks warmly welcomed the participants and interestingly described Baguio City as the Summer Capital of the Philippines. She wished the delegates a gratifying stay as she was pleased and honored that EMB Central Office have chosen Baguio City as a venue for the mid-year assessment.
Usec. Benito Antonio T. De Leon, DENR Undersecretary for Enforcement of the Solid Waste Management, Local Government Units Concerns and Attached Agencies and Alternate to the Chairperson of the National Solid Waste Management Commission also acknowledged the continuing efforts of all EMB Regional Offices.
“Nevertheless, I am confident that you would gain a wider and be perspective from the collective reports from all the different regions and have accomplished covering the following: providing technical assistance with the implementation of the ecological solid waste management, conducting environmental compliance monitoring and assessment of the status of operation of EMB and LGU-funded Materials Recovery Facility, Sanitary Landfill operations, and monitoring and assessment of the status of closure and rehabilitation of closed dumpsites,” De Leon said in his pre-recorded message.
Meanwhile, Engr. William P. Cuñado, EMB Director, Executive Director of NSWMC-Secretariat and Head of the National Ecology Center highlighted that EMB Regional Offices should make friends with Local Chief Executives. He said that in friendships, big things become small while in an enemy, small things become very big and hard. He also emphasized discipline among the participants. This is in relation to accomplishing excellent tasks as employees need to assess themselves in delivering outputs.
“There is no poor and no bright brain, there is only an untrained brain. Train it.” Cuñado said.
It was then followed by turnover of DJI Air2 Aircrafts Drones to all EMB Regional Offices and presentation on Status of KRA for CY 2022 (including the SWM equipment), Parochial Issues and Concerns.
